THE SEARCH FOR SIGNIFICANCE

In the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life", Jimmy Stewart comes to doubt his own self worth. It reminds us of how easily we can lose sight of our importance to others. The longing for a sense of significance is the most intense desire we carry through life. We need to know our efforts are really needed. This significance gives our life "meaning".
We need to remember that we are ALL unique and each one of us is able to touch the lives of individuals in a special way that no one else can. Sometimes the most insignificant act, in time, has far reaching impacts, beyond what we recognize. I believe that every kind word or deed we perform to help ease another's burden takes on a life of its own and eventually becomes greater than we will ever be aware of.
